These challenges reveal an urgent need not only for scientific solutions, but also for deep cultural and educational transformations that can shift how people understand, value, and interact with the natural world. Biology—at the intersection of life, environment, and human behavior—plays a central role in shaping this transformation.

Biology, as the science of life and its interconnected systems, is central to this transformation. It offers the knowledge and perspective needed to understand ecological relationships, recognize human impacts, and imagine pathways toward more sustainable futures. Biology education therefore carries a profound responsibility: to guide learners in developing ecological literacy and to nurture a sense of stewardship for all living things in the transformative age.

To fulfill this responsibility, biology classrooms must become spaces where scientific understanding connects directly with real-world environmental issues. When students see how biological principles relate to their daily lives—food systems, ecosystems, climate dynamics, and community resilience—they begin to recognize their own agency in sustaining life. They shift from passive observers of ecological decline to active participants in ecological renewal.

Achieving this shift requires transformative pedagogies. Inquiry-based learning, outdoor and experiential education, community-engaged projects, and thoughtful integration of technology can empower students to design eco-friendly solutions, adopt sustainable lifestyles, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Through such approaches, biology education becomes not merely informative but genuinely transformative.

With this vision in mind, the theme “Biology Education for Ecological Transformation: Eco-Living in Harmony with Nature” has been chosen for this year’s conference. It calls on researchers, teachers, curriculum developers, and policymakers to collaborate in reimagining biology education as a catalyst for ecological transformation. By fostering eco-living and harmony with nature, we prepare the next generation to care for life in all its forms—and to help shape a future where human progress and ecological well-being are mutually sustaining.

The organizing committee hopes that this conference will serve as a vibrant platform for sharing innovative research, exchanging ideas, and generating proposals that advance this shared mission. Through our collective efforts, we can strengthen the role of biology education in building a more sustainable and life-affirming world.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Organizer

This Conference is jointly organized by Asian Association of Biology Education (AABE) and Korean Society of Biology Education (KSBE).

Committees

 Co-Chairs:
Pf.
